How Do Ranked Matches Work?
When you queue up for ranked, you'll be matched against an opponent of similar ability and earn rank points (RP) based on how you do—don't worry, there's no penalty for defeat!
As you accumulate RP, you'll move up a ladder of ranks.
Your performance in recent matches will also place you in a group. This is independent of your rank, but your RP gains will increase depending on which group you're in.
The bonus RP modifier of each group and the RP needed to reach the different ranks can be seen from your profile.
Lastly, a new season will begin with each new card pack, as well as approximately once a month after a new card pack is added.
Master points, rankings, and the Battle Pass will all reset when a new season begins. You'll also be assigned to a new group based on where you were previously:
- Diamond → Ruby
- Sapphire → Ruby
- Ruby → Topaz
- Topaz → Emerald
